Professor of Documentary Studies William deBuys serves as a private conservation consultant whose clients have included The Conservation Fund, The Nature Conservancy, U.S. Forest Service, and the National Biological Survey.
He is the author of several books and articles and the recipient of numerous fellowships and awards. His book River Traps was honored as The New York Times Notable Book of the Year in 1990.
Other awards have included the Robert Langsenkamp award, the Pflueger Award and the Watershed Steward Award.
Tony O'Brien

Assistant Professor of Art and Director of the Documentary Studies Program Tony O'Brien began his photography career in 1973. His work has appeared in such publications as Life, Time, Newsweek and The New York Times Sunday Magazine. Tony's documentary work has included pieces on subjects as varied as the struggle of Afghan rebels fighting the Soviet occupation of their country and a British expedition climbing Mt. Everest in Tibet. In 1990, he was awarded the first Eliot Porter Foundation Grant for his work in Afghanistan.
