Documentary Studies - Fieldwork
Recuerdos Oral History Project
Students preserve the history of native New Mexicans through the ongoing Recuerdos Oral History Project. Students learn the techniques of conducting and recording oral interviews, while learning the crafts of portraiture and photographic preservation.
The project also provides outreach and training to individuals undertaking oral history projects in their own communities. The project preserves materials via repositories at CSF's Fogelson Library and state agencies.

Instituto Terra - Brazil
Seniors spend their fall semester at the Instituto Terra in Brazil. Students develop their independent field projects which cover social, cultural and environmental issues.
Project areas include monitoring of reforestation, water cycles, sustainable development, barriers to restoration, seed collection for tree planting, and creating maps using GPS systems.
Students live at the Instituto, participate in community-based projects and attend courses on reforestation, the history and culture of Brazil and the Portuguese language.
Check out the Student Gallery for projects made in Brazil.
