Documentary Studies - Program
The Documentary Studies program is an interdisciplinary two-year major commencing in the junior year. Incoming freshmen declare a major in an existing department and receive fundamental training in that field through their freshman and sophomore years.
Students apply for the program in the second semester of the sophomore year. Upon acceptance, students become declared Documentary Studies majors while retaining advising ties to their original academic departments.
Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis. (Undeclared majors and transfer students are eligible; see below).
Requirements
In order to be eligible for the program, students must be in good standing and fulfill the general academic requires of CSF. In addition, students should:
- wait until the second semester of the sophmore year to apply for the program
- follow the degree paradigm of an existing major prior to applying
- provide three faculty references
- write and submit a 500-word essay explaining their desire to enter the program
- complete a portfolio review and personal review by a committee
Undeclared majors and transfer students may be required to take pre-requisite classes.
