Associate Professor of Science Thomas Antonio joined the college in 2003. He has served as curator of collections for the Chicago Park District and as taxonomist, research botanist and manager of the herbarium at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
He has received numerous awards and grants and was selected as delegate for the US/USSR Botanical Exchange in 1984. His research interests include plant systematics, pollination biology, taxonomy of the Asteraceae (Sunflower Family) and aspen biology.
Antonio is the senior author of "The Sunflower Family in the Upper Midwest" (Indiana Academy of Science). He is the curator of "Sugar from the Sun," a living plant exhibit which explores photosynthesis at the Garfield Conservatory, which is sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Antonio is the vice-president of the Native Plant Society of New Mexico and president of the Santa Fe Chapter of the New Mexico Native Plant Society.

Professor of Science and Conservation Studies David Johnson has worked with science students at CSF since 1984. His research interests focus on the ecology of the Southwest.
He has studied communities of small mammals and reptiles, surveyed the range of harvester ants in New Mexico, and is currently working with historical collections of plants and lichens. He also participates in an ongoing breeding bird survey.
