An experienced coach who has helped develop numerous standout California soccer players, Wilt Kishimoto completed his sixth season with the California Baptist University program and recently joined CSF as the new director of soccer and head women’s soccer coach.
In Kishimoto’s last season with the CBU women, he worked as a co-head coach with Sean Bowers for the women’s program. Together, the duo led the Lancers to an 11-6-1 overall mark, 5-4-1 Golden State Athletic Conference. The Lancers advanced to the NAIA Region II Playoffs where they lost to the NAIA’s No. 10-ranked Point Loma Nazarene. Of the Lancers’ six losses, three were by just one goal, and the other three were by two goals. After an 8-1 start, the Lancers climbed all the way to No. 9 in the NAIA rankings but went 0-3-1 in their next four games to fall out of the rankings. They rebounded to win three of their final five games.
Most recently, Kishimoto was a coach with the San Diego Sea Lions in the Women’s Premier Soccer League. In 2006 Kishimoto coached such notable players as national team members Lorie and Ronnie Fair, 1995 World Cup member Jen Lalor-Nielsen, 1999 Chinese WWC player Ou Ying Zhang and numerous NCAA Division I athletes. In 2006 the Sea Lions advanced to the WPSL Final Four in Salt Lake City. Kishimoto has made his mark as a local club coach. In addition to his California Baptist duties, he was the director of coaching for Desert United Soccer Club in Palm Desert, CA. He led the squad to the 2004 state Open Cup championship.
Kishimoto attended and played his collegiate soccer at the University of Redlands (NCAA Div.III) where he earned a BA in international Rrlations (1994) and an MA in educational counseling(1996). Kishimoto also holds a USSF National B coaching license.
