Financial Aid - Grants
All grants are awarded on the basis of family need as determined by the FAFSA form. The total award you receive (including scholarships) cannot exceed the cost of tuition.
Federal Pell Grants
A Pell Grant is a federally funded grant awarded to undergraduate students working toward their first bachelor's degree. The amount of the grant is based on a combination of income and assets. For more information about Pell Grants, visit finaid.org.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
An FSEOG is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need, and students receiving Federal Pell Grants are given priority. Awards vary from $100 to $4,000 a year and depend on when you apply, your need, the funding level of the school you're attending, and the policies of the financial aid office where you attend school.
Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) and the Federal SMART Grant (SMART)
The ACG requires completing a rigorous high school program beginning May 2006, being Pell grant eligible and attending full-time in the first and second year of college. The SMART grant requires the student to be Pell grant eligible, in a computer science or environmental science major and attending full-time in the 3rd and 4th year of college. A 3.0 is required in both programs.
New Mexico Student Incentive Grant (NMSIG)
The NMSIG combines federal and state funds to allow students who are New Mexico residents, and who show exceptional need, to pursue a higher education. Awards range from $200 to $2500 per year.
New Mexico Student Choice Grant (NMSCG)
The NMSCG is a limited grant offered by the state of New Mexico through the College of Santa Fe. This grant is awarded to New Mexicans that show exceptional need on a first come, first served basis. If eligible, the NMSCG will be part of your award package. Awards range from $500 to $5,200 per academic year.
College of Santa Fe's Special Grant Program
The De La Salle Grant is given each year to first-year, continuing, and transfer students. The amount of the award varies. The deadline for being considered for these funds is November 1 for the fall semester and April 1 for the spring semester.
